Jesus Is Everything To Me

Everyone has a song that takes them back to the first time they really had a personal relationship with Jesus. What is yours? Take a few minutes and think about it. What do the memories do to you? Do you tear up in happiness or smile in awe? For me, one of the songs that always takes me back to knowing Jesus as a kid, is the song, “Everything To Me” by the band Avalon. The song always makes me think of being in Sunday school, and in church and in school, learning more about God. My parents taught me how to have a personal deep relationship with God by helping me get to know Him through prayer, going to church and Sunday school. The lyrics are as follows: First verse: “I grew up in Sunday school. I memorized the golden rule. And how Jesus came to set the sinner free. I know the story inside out. And I can tell you all about. The path that led Him up to Calvary. But ask me why He loves me. And I don’t know what to say. But I’ll never be the same. Because He changed my life. When He became. Chorus: Everything to me. He’s more than a story. More than words on a page of history. He’s the air that I breathe. The water I thirst for. And the ground beneath my feet. He’s everything. Everything to me.” We can all tell people about Jesus’s life and death and the path that led him up to Calvary. We may not know the story inside out, all the way. But, we can be joyful and excited about telling others about Jesus. When someone asks us why He loves us or how He loves us, we really may not know what to say. But we will never be the same because of the love He has for us. He should be everything to us. He truly is more than a story and more than words on a page of history in the Bible. He gives us the air that we breathe every second of every day. He should be the water we thirst for and He is the living water that we should thirst for. He is the living water that provides the quenching of our thirst for love, friendship and the genuine love of life. He is the solid ground beneath our feet in our every day life. He has so much to offer us. All we have to do is search for Him and accept Him with all our hearts. 2nd verse: “We’re living in uncertain times. And more and more I find that I’m aware of just how fragile life can be. I want to tell the world I’ve found a love that turned my life around. They need to know that they can taste and see. Now every day I’m praying just to give my heart away. I want to live for Jesus. So, someone else might see. Chorus: That He is everything to me. He’s more than a story. More than words on a page of history. He’s the air that I breathe. The water I thirst for. And the ground beneath my feet. He’s everything. Everything to me.” We surely do live in uncertain times. We often find that we become aware of just have fragile life can become. We never know hat will happen in our day to day life. We should always try to tell everyone that we love them. We should want to tell the world we’ve found a love that has completely transformed our lives. Everyone needs to know and deserve to know that they can taste the love that God has for them. They need to know that they can see the goodness that God has done for them and the goodness of God’s glory in their lives. Every day we should be trying to give our hearts away in love and to share the goodness of Gods good news. We should always be the light in the darkness of this world so that someone else sees how important God is in our lives. We should always want to point others to Him. We should want to make others curious about the peace we have within our hearts because of Him. Bridge: “And looking back over my life, at the end. I’m gonna meet Him. Say that He’s been. Chorus: everything to me. He’s more than a story. More than words on a page of history. He’s the air that I breathe. The water I thirst for. And the ground beneath my feet. He’s everything. Everything to me.”

Let God be everything to you throughout your life. Live for Him. Let Him be more than a story and more than just words in the Bible.
